I recently purchased a holley black pump for my car. I have been swapping to carbed along with my engine rebuild. here is the situation
The holley black pump is rated at 140gph freeflow and 120 at 9psi. I am not worried about the volume I have plenty of that with this pump but I am worried about the preasure. The pump is preset at 15psi from the factory and I know I will need a preasure regulator.
I had asked a question about the fuel pump with my nitrous and was wondering if I needed to run a return line and if I did run a return line would that drop the preasure that the pump would put out. I didn't get any very definative answers to this question.
My worry is that if I run a return line that I won't have enough preasure to run the engine and the nitrous because all of my preasure would be going out of my return line. My other worry is that if I dont' run a return line that the pump will have a shorter life. The instructions that came with the holley black pump didn't mention anythign about this pump needing a return line.
If this was going to be a track only car I wouldn't worry but I want it to be avaliable as a daily driver when I rebuild the engine in my truck and when I just want to drive it.
Any help or advice you guys could give me would help me out greatly I am sorry if this post is kind of messed up I have been up for 20 hours and am very tired.
Thanks
Brock

I also wanted to know if any of you guys have a perticular fuel preasure regulator that you would reccomend to me. I have to decide very quick which regulator I want to run and my decision is going to based partly if I should run a return line or not.
I forgot to mention that I will be taking the stock pump out of the tank and running a seprate half inch fuel line to the engine compartment.
I run this same pump in my Z with the Mallory regulator (#4309) from Jegs or Summit.I also do run a return line off the regulator as this is the only way this regulator will work.I run 6AN feed line with 8AN return as per Mallory's instructions, they explain why.I have this sytem feeding my motor and nitrous system on my Z and yet to have a problem with it feeding both.If you want more specifics email me at: onebad82z@cmjackson.com and I will be glad to help you out as much as I can without me posting a huge how to on my fuel system.
They really don't recommend that pump for street duty. If you are going to run it, you will need a bypass style regulator to get any kind of longevity. Either that Mallory one..or Barry Grant makes a good one that will work.
