according to the Doug roe book, there are some adjusatble choke pull offs around, he also says that the plastic ones can be drilled out ( metered orifice) for faster secondary opening . My secondaries open very late now that i replaced my worn out leaking pull off. they used to open too quickly, besides that the choke stood on untill fully warm. I'm going to the track this friday and i'm loosing a good deal of power. I have donr the secondary airvalve adjustment. but the pull off doesn't release ontil about 3500-4000 rpm.
Are you saying it starts to really pull at 3500-4000 RPMs? If that's the case, the secondaries may actually be opening too soon. Try more AV tension, watch your 60' times, you should feel a steady pull, not a sudden rush of power.
The metal pull-offs can be drilled out, too. But, some of them are orificed back at the can, not at the tip of the hose connection. All you want the pull-off to do is keep the AV closed when first nailed - the spring tension should control the actual opening rate.
I can feel them opening, There is no bog, throttle response is actually quite good. It does really start to pull at about 3500-4000 but if i install my old leaky pull off it explodes from idle on up. when your in a high gear it will bog, meaning you can feel it stumble then pull. actually really gratifying because the abrupt power delivery makes it feel even more powerful. I need something in between the two.
So your saying i can drill a small hole in the back of the new pull off? Roe says anything over .025 is too much. If i start at say .010 and work up, will it cause them to open faster? or just a vacum leak??
What I meant was the orifice is at the back of the hose nipple (around the corner where you can't drill it out) rather than at the front end where you can drill it out.
