How do I hook up my electric choke?

Ok, 84 TA with 305 and newer Edelbrock carb. The electric choke is totally disconnected, i can see the two blades where wires are supposed to go. How do I hook it up? Can anyone help. I'm getting sick and tired of holding my foot on the gas for five minutes in the morning before it warms up and can idle!

At some time in its life, your car had an electric wire going up to an electric choke. It was just one wire, which had 12vdc going to it when the ignition was on and the alternator charging because the choke thermostat was grounded internally.

Your Edelbrock is not grounded internally, so one of the terminals needs to be hooked to ground (the carb itself typically suffices). The other terminal needs to have 12vdc switched power supplied to it, either via the orginal wire in the harness, or via a wire that you run yourself.

Ok, so one's ground, and one's switched power, preferably thru the ignition right? Thats what I had originally figured, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Thanks
