My car is running very roughly ... help!
A buddy of mine wanted to feel how quick the firebird was, so I fired it up, let it warm up for a while, then did a little 30-50 sprint and then we hit a red light, so as I coasted to a stop, the car just died. At first, I was thinking no problem, but then I started it up again which took more effort this time, but it started running VERY rough. As long as I was constantly accelerating, it would putt down the street, but when I let off the pedal, it would die again. Smoke puffs out the back, and my buddy drove over to have a look at it (I was about 2 minutes away from his house), and he said something about it running way too richly or something. We popped open the hood, no smoke or anything was coming out from under the hood, but I did hear the sound of liquid draining or something and my friend said it was gasoline draining or something like that. Do you have any hints or suggestions for me? I hope I didn't break my toy too badly! Please let me know your thoughts.
Here is a little more on what I have: AED modified Holley 750 carburetor -Mallory return style, 3-port fuel regulator -1" carb spacer -Edelbrock 'Victor Jr.' intake manifold

uhhhhhhh, fuel pressure? My recomendation is get rid of the Holley and get a real fuel pump. Get one made for a carb and screw that fuel pressure regulator crap. You were probably dumping gas in there like it was going out of style. Might have hurt your motor..... Sorry for the bad news but such is evolution.
Do you have the stock fuel pump still in the car?

With the car running, look down the carb and see if there is fuel dripping out if the secondaries. If so, it might be as simple as cleaning out the needle and seat, maybe some trash had gotten in there. Also check the filter, or just replace it.

thanks for the help guys ...
The carb just needed rebuilding, so I am putting a Barry Grant rebuild kit into it. As soon as that is done, and I get the car inspected, I am going Viper hunting baby!

Good luck, and I know you will kill anything short of a LPE TT427 Vette, working carb or not.
