My eye candy...took this last year right after rebuild. Look at it this year and it's another story -- I gunk it to death, but don't think it will ever look this good again.

Me likes.... It's sooooo good to know that I am not the only one in the III Gen class running old school carb's! Yeah, cold starts suck, but the power is worth it. Can someone please e-mail me or post (that is those running carbed III Gens with over 500HP) what fuel pump your running and how you adapted it from TBI or TPI to carb for pumps? I am thinking of holley blue, but is that enough? Do I just splice into the fuel line and run that pump and let her rip?
Better yet, let me make a poll (a small one)
What fuel pump do you (carbed folks) use? Why? Easy usage?
Thanks
Im running a Mallory 140gph pump, Even the holley black is nice
is there a way to use the tpi throttle cable on a carburetor setup??? or do you need to get a whole new cable?
The TPI cable is too long ,you'd have to loop it like 2 times to get it to work.Just switch to a TBI throttle cable. It is the perfect length for carb.Good luck!

this is just not true, At least for my 87 TA I just had a bracket brazed onto the carberator for the tpi and it works great.
I believe I am the only person to put a model of jfk's upper torso on a third gen dashboard *his skull cap is even gone!* I call him the navigator, he's attached to a piece of wood thats attached to my dash by a pivot. When I turn the car he moves the opposite way, its fun.
My car isnt in the cleanest of conditions it has seen, but the cars not street legal yet so im waiting untill I get insurance/registration to really give it a good scrubbing over. I also need to repaint my valve covers, or get new ones *they are just so damn expensive for a good set*.
I love my camaro.
DONT FLAME! THATS MY DADS PIECE OF **** V6 MUSTANG, NOT MINE.
*edit*
I almost forgot, yes I know that air filter is extremley restrictive. I had to squish it like that so it would fit underneath my hood and not damage my carb while reving. Im getting a 4" cowl glass hood, along with a holley 750dp. that will let me get rid of the carb spacer that I have now to go from square to spreadbore, my hood has even less space than a normal hood without those indents.
Here are some updated pics of my 383. Changes since last pic are Demon carb, Team G intake, MSD billet distributor, Hooker LT's, functional line lock and some general cleaning up of wiring. Next up will be to install a dual snorkel air cleaner to get rid of the hot air sucking open element.
this is like 3 months ago i got valve covers headers and new airfilter new pics soon

heres mine 400 miles on it nothing wrong yet. 1/4...14.3
I dont feel bad I am not the only one using the stock TPI fuel lines for a sending and return with a carb.....very nice and are your times on slicks or sticky street tires??
here's mine. i got an old school 327 from a vette in there. no extra wires or emissions stuff. i had to fabricate a PCV and breather system since the aluminum corvette valve covers have no holes in them. i hate when you see people drilling holes in the top of these covers to solve the problem. I want me clean up my engine bay can some please explain to me what to do? I have a bunch of wire all over the place dont know what to take off what to keep. Looking at some of the pic's in this thread they don’t this is mine right now.

Just curious... why do some of you guys use so much rubber fuel line? Some of these cars look like they have a coule FEET of it, not counting what goes from the chassis to the fuel pump! Not talking about braided hose, but regular rubber hose
Why does no one ever bend their own hardline? I've done it a few times now, and its not hard.. and the tools aren't expensive (or even just rent them). All you need is a tubing bender and maybe a flaring tool.
Just seems like alot of risk to take. Not hard for it to touch something hot and melt, or rub a pulley or belt and have it tear.
Plus... hardline looks aot better. More "professional".
Do any of you guys pass emissions with those carbed motors? If so, how did you?
You can get just about anymore to pass emissions with the correct time and money, but when you get way over stock it gets way too expensive. If you are going to mod your car check you local laws on emissions and make sure they don't do a visual check, cause if they do and you remove the stuff you are screwed.
Best bet is to either get insurance for a show car/race car OR see if you can get an emissions exemption form from the EPA people in your state for not having to go to emissions.
Other than that, I am using my buddies address in an area of the state that doesn't require emissions.

I'd give my left nut for a no-A/C box like that. Does anyone know where I can get one?

I pass emissions in NYC, but it takes a little work. To keep it emissions legal I have to keep it in a perfect state of tune at testing time. My combination is mild even though every part is aftermarket (heads & cam). All parts have a CARB#, they are already proven to be emissions compliant. I do use a computer controlled Rochester which helps, but not as much as you might think. Personally I think non-computer would allow for finer tuning.
Finally, my carbed T/A has top pass emissions requirements for 1983 which was not as stringent as today, since my car was originally a carbed car.

BATTMAN,
Love the old school 'Vette valve covers, only drawback is the motor that they originally came on had the oil filler neck at the front of the intake and yours doesn't. How are you adding oil? Did you drill a PCV/filler hole at the back of the DS cover where we cannot see in your photos?
