carbs and intakes

I have a 86 iroc z. It has tpi, but i am a carb fan. It has a motor from a 79 vette, that was rebuilt and slapped with a larger cam. Hooker competition headers and what not. I am going to pull the tpi and switch to carb. In place of the tpi is going to be a set of dart iron eagle 200 runner 2.02/1.60 valve heads. Also, a set of Harland Sharp 1.6 ratio roller rockers. I have had alot of experience with carb and intake swaps in the past, but have never figured out what the best combo is. I was always just matching a chrome holley to a holley intake or a 750 cfm edelbrock to torquer 2's and things. What would be the best for my car. What carb would produce the power without the fuel overload. Holley, Demon, edelbrock? Street Avenger, Double Pumper, 700 cfm, 750 cfm? What intake would do best: air gap, torquer 2, the standard edelbrock rpm, double plane, single plane, high rise?

The parts need to match up to form a complete "package". You told us the engine size, the heads you want to use, and that you've got headers, but other things such as cam specs, rear gears, intended use, torque converter stall (if auto), etc., all play a part in selecting the intake & carb.

Since it runs now with a TPI, it's fairly safe to assume it isn't too radical of a cam. So, Weiand Action+ with a Holley 750 DP and about 2000 RPM stall would probably make a decent driver/weekend warrior setup. But,without knowing specifics of the cam, can't say for sure. If the cam isn't pretty healty, the Dart 200's are probably too much head.

I assume you had a distributor change planned as well.

Well, the cam duration is an unknown, although I will be putting in a 214/224 duration cam along with lifters and double roller timing chain, yada yada. It is in fact a auto tranny unfortunately. The stall is unkown also. It's a 700 r4 with a power glide kit. I have only had the car for a few weeks and am figuring out the modifications that have been done as I go.

700R4 with a 'glide kit??? That cam is small for 200cc heads. What rear gears have you got and what is your intended purpose (full drag, weekend warrior, hot street, mild street)?
