my car used to be TPI but i've put in a carb motor. I'm trying to figure out where the vacuume lines go
i'm thinking that the brake booster and PCV valve go under neith the throttle and the distributor goes overtop the throttle
also, there's hoses for the heater controles and where do those go?
last thing, my trottle cable is too short (1/4 to 3/8 of an inch) when in the bracket, is there any way to adjust? i can't see anything where the pedel is that can be adjusted.
On the typical q-jet, the PCV comes off the large hose nipple on the front of the base, and the brake booster from a threaded port on the back. The heater control is tapped off of a small nipple on the back passenger-side corner of the base.
If you're trying to use the long TPI cables, get them for a carb model instead, either from the junk yard or from the dealer. I believe Lokar has a TV cable as well.
it's a q-jet off the 400 (stock)
76 era
i don't know exactly what model number..
ok, i got the brake booster and pcv valve hooked up now, and i put the distributor to the front of the carb (above the throttle plates on the main body) and there's still one nipple on the passanger side, where the choke is, that's not doing anything.. it's not off the base, it's in the body of the carb in the middle.. with the car running, it has no vacuume that i can feel on that one nipple. (1300 rpm)
thanks for the throttle linkage response, i'll go search junkyards tomorrow for one off a carburated model.
That vacuum port up on the carb body (it's actually on the metering block) is "ported" vacuum. It doesn't have a signal until the throttle is opened past a certain point (physically - not directly related to RPMs).
