air intake? and vacuum lines?

hey i've been seeing a lot of carbed cars lately with air intakes going around the air filter. i was wondering if these intakes helped alot and where i could buy one of these systems at? also i wanted to buy a ram air hood for the looks, but does any one know if these would also help out the air intake system sense it has the two nostrols? One last thing i have a 600 cfm holley carb and i keep hearing mixed opinions on where some of vacum lines should go. Some people say that i should connect from the bottom vacuum port near the base plate to the distrubitor advance, and others say it should be the one higher up pointing towards the passenger side of car. SO if any one knows which port goes to the disrtibutor i need to get that straightened out as well.

Cold air ducts like in the pic I put up before are proven to be effective. There are lots of people who can give timeslips to show it.

Thats RB83L69's engine in the pic BTW. You could ask him about the system and how well it works.

www.ramairbox.com is the only place that I know of that makes them. You could search the junkyards too, but they are pretty hard to find nowadays.
