I am considering useing their Crosswind (similar to air gap). Has anyone used these? I have seen them in real life and there is a little extra casting flash, but nothing that cannot be cleaned up. http://shop.enginekits.com/osb/itemdetails.cfm?ID=164
Last year, a member was trying figure out why his performance-built 400 wasn't putting out the numbers on the dyno. The only culprit that could be identified was the Crosswind intake.
Would have been great if he could have installed an RPM Air Gap or Stealth and dyno'd it again, but he decided to live with the results.
Everything I've heard from other racers is nothing but good with these chinese intakes, many dyno pulls showed the Hurricane intake actually making more power than the Edelbrock's Vic Jr and Super Vic, and equaling the Dart and Brodix....at the price of having to port out of box that is.
I bought a polished Hurricane since I wanted more plenum volume, take away the hit on the low side and gain it back at higher rpm's. Went to start gasket matching and WOW, when they recommend porting to be done for performance applications becasue runners are intentionally shipped small, they are not joking. I'm using Fel-Pro 1206 intake so they're slightly larger than stock gaskets, but i ended up removing easily 3/16" on the sides of the runners and 1/8-3/16" on top/bottom. It's still in the garage, have'nt decided if I want to finish cleaning them up and they still need ALOT of blending towards the plenum as well as some smoothing, under carb needs alot of attection as well as runner dividers. Dont know if I want to stick any more time into it now so it'sll probably sit till i have nothing else to do with my time.
