edelbrock avs vs. performer

i have decided to go with an edelbrock carb on my 350.i just dont know if it is worth spending the extra money for the avs version.i was hoping someone could fill me in.i hear you can make the secondarys kick in earlier on the performer model by messing with the counter weights.also would the 800 cfm be too big for my motor.i have a 350 bored .060 over.vortec heads flat top pistons.9.5-1 compression.decently sized cam.headers.weiand intake.

I read that you can adjust the secondaries on the AVS from the outside, without tearing into it - but whether that makes it any better I don't know - the price of the AVS is quite a bit more than the performer.

800 would definitely be too big since your engine only uses about 620 at 6000 RPM and 100% VE.

I have a Performer 750 (#1411) I use to have on mine and is since sitting on the bench. They're easy to tune, but I always had a problem with the damn thing that I never figured out. Not sure what you could do to the secondary weights other than shaving material off to make them lighter I guess.

800cfm is wayyy overboard for your setup. It would make that edelbrock carb seem even worse than they already are!

Ive got the 600cfm performer on my car and it seems a pretty much general consensus that these edelbrock carbs are junk unless you can get them set spot on which is a fair PITA.
