edelbrock electric fuel pump pressure drop

Just installed an Edelbrock 120gph electric pump in the engine bay. Feeds my Holley at 6.5 psi, sometimes. I pulled the old pump out of the tank and added some fuel line with a 90 fittting at the bottom as a pickup. I am using the old "high pressure" line as the supply to the pump. When the engine is cold I've got perfect 6.5 psi, when it runs for a while the pressure drops to almost nothing. The motor runs fine, though. It is not starved. Am I stupid or what here? It appears that once the carb's bowl is filled then the pressure drops, but I always have enough fuel to feed the carb. This pump does not have a return and is designed to not need one. Any ideas?
