I was looking around to see what I needed if I were to upgrade to Vortecs and it looks like Edelbrock doesn't make a RPM version of the Vortec manifold? Just curious what everyone's running for this combo and if there is a high-rise dual plane out there.
there's a rpm air-gap intake for vortecs, but setup for holley, you'd need the adapter place for sure to run a Qjet.

I see a lot of guys running RPM manifolds with the vortecs does the low-rise performer choke these things?
I was thinking about running the Crane powermax 2050 216/228 cam to keep the CC quadrajet, but I wonder if a performer maybe with a spacer would be enough upto 5500-6000 RPM.
yes the performer chokes them compared to a performer rpm air-gap...difference of 15-20hp on the intake swap alone.

You can get either the Performer RPM or Performer RPM Air Gap for Vortec heads. But, neither are spread bore. However, both would flow the same, and with an square bore to spread bore adapter, would support the CC q-jet.
Don't forget about hood clearence! It is possible to run a air-gap with a drop base air cleaner, but its tight with a edelbrock carb. Adding the adapter is going to make your combo too tall, well for a firebird anyways. Im not too sure if the Qjet is shorter, and the factory drop bases are any shorter, but just something to not overlook.
Here is a GM Vortec Intake that will work with a Q-Jet. It does have the EGR provision if you need that ( as I do for my car). I says it's a low profile dual plane intake, so it should fit without too much of a problem. I have yet to find a GM Vortec intake that will fit a Q-Jet that doesn't have an EGR provision.
It looks tempting, but I think I'll probably not go Vortec, I've already got a speabore RPM manifold, non-self aligning roller rockers and a good exhaust., lying round.
Gee, I wonder why they used GM published baseline data instead of running their own baseline. . .
Whether you should stick with what you've got or upgrade depends upon what you've got. The pieces you've mentioned aren't all that impressive. - certainly nothing to build an engine around. The exhaust will work with either one. The non-selfaligning rockers will work on heads with guideplates. The manifold can be sold to off-set other purchases.
