questions on Rochester Varajet E2SE

Rochester Varajet E2SE- the diagram looks like the carb on my 2.8 thats coming out.

is this the carb that would be on a 2.8?

If yes, is it a carb worth running for a 3.4 swap over? Not racing it, just for daily driver.

If No, is there a factory 4 barrel intake for a 2.8/3.4?

Or would I have to go aftermarket?

Is there a better choice to throw on it, like a holley 450 or holley street avenger?

Re: questions on Rochester Varajet E2SE

ugh... Why not use the FI system from the 3.4L ?

I'm a little dicey on using a 2bbl carb on a 3.4L V6, sounds a little strange. I guess because i've never done anything like it. I think the FI system from the 3.4L is good though,

Re: questions on Rochester Varajet E2SE

There is ZERO aftermarket support for that carb. Yes, it will work on a 3.4 if you want to use it. Edlebrock even makes a performance intake for use with the stock 2bbl, if you're interested.

MORE INTERESTING would be putting a small 4bbl on it (maybe 450 CFM). Edlebrock makes an intake for that as well, although it's obviously NOT emissions-legal. The factory never put a 4bbl on the 2.8/3.1/3.4 to the best of my knowlege. The 90* 3.8/4.1L "Buick" engine family was the smallest V6s that ever got a 4bbl from the factory (a QJet).

Re: questions on Rochester Varajet E2SE

First off, thanks for all the replies and info..

Next, I do not see the use of doing anything to this engine, but making it run till the V8 swap is ready to go in.

I wanna drive the car this year, and the V8 swap is no where near ready.

DO you know if any parts store should have a rebuild kit for this carb, its never been touched since factory threw it on, and its been sitting not running for 5 years. SO I am sure a freshening up will be in order.

Any thoughts?

Most any parts store should have or be able to get a rebuild kit for it.

Worst carb, ever, coincidentally used on GM's worst V6 ever, the 2.8. It's very fitting, actually.

Re: questions on Rochester Varajet E2SE

thats why I am switching to a 3.4.

I did a 2.8-3.4 swap in a 85 GMC Jimmy, and I could not believe the difference in power.

Night and day difference.

Re: questions on Rochester Varajet E2SE

Well I found out that the trans I have is the 200c, so I have decided to just hold off one more year and then do the V8 swap instead of messing with all the extra stuff..
