2.8l 83 Carb help!

Heya guys!

I've got an 83 2.8l v6 with an idle issue, idles around 500rpm and dies sometimes getting going in gear. In general, it doesn't seem to run right, and I need a little info here.

First off, can someone explain the systems of the controlled carburetor on this car? (its California!) what sensors are there, which ones cause problems, what should I check.

For those unfamiliar with my car, it just came out of a 14 year hibernation!

unrelated to carburation, but, what readings should I be getting for oil pressure on cold start, and also warm running, at 1k, and 2.5k rpm respectively? if anyone knows, please let post it up!

Re: 2.8l 83 Carb help!

Well when it comes to oil pressure on cold start it should be pretty high because oil is at its thickest when it is cold (I run at 60 psi when cold) and when hot it is between 40 and 50 PSi. As long as you are above half you are in good shape. You should have a sticker regarding your idle speeds under the hood. How many RPMs are you running when you put it in gear? 500 rpm seems to low. Should be between 800 to 1000 in park and around 750 in gear.
