Hi I am pretty sure this is my Idle Speed Control (ISC) but I'm not sure.. Is that right??...Cause my one is living it's own life so my idle RPM is crazy so I have just disconnected it... Anyone know where I could get a new one?? My Engine specs is a 87 305 cid with Computer controlled Quadrajet Carb.. Thanks. Alex

Commonly called a "throttle kicker" solenoid. It raises the idle when the AC is on and when the ECM thinks you need to be off-idle slightly for emissions reasons.

I can't imagine that it's doing anything on its own that replacing it would solve. Most likely you just need to adjust how much it opens the throttle when it is engaged.

I just knew that some of the later third gen camaro's had this type of idle solinoid that's beeing controlled by the ecm...

This throttle kicker, is just for adding rpm's when I use AC???

3rd gens carbs didn't get the idle speed control, which is a stepper motor and a lot larger. There is a picture of an ISC in the q-jet rebuild sticky at the top of the forum.

The throttle kicker is used for both AC and under certain deacceleration conditions (the latter being an emissions thing).

Technically, it's called the "Idle Speed Solenoid" or ISS in the GM tech books.

ok...that's what I've also had on my mind..Cause I have seen this ISC solinoids and they seem a little bit different...

I think my ISS plunger is un-adjusted then cause one day when i drove around and was going deccelerate my RPM went veeery high...
When I stoped my car and put the shifter in Park my rpm ws about 2500RPM

After that time I've just disconnected the ISS...
Have any Idea how to adjust it??
