Okay I have given up on putting old carbs on my rebuilt 86 LG4 engine. I tried two of them but the car just is not running "smooth". I was quoted $400 to rebuild and for that I might as well go brand new instead of remainufactured. Lot's of problems like dumping gas or bogging down. My mechanics are telling me to put a new carb on and my car will run great.
What are the experts opinions on which carb to get? I am going to stay electronic so I don't want to switch to mechanical carb. This will be my daily driver but I still want a 4 bbl carb. Looking for recomendations with model numbers and approx. prices. The car currently has the Quadrajet factory model 650 I think. I would like to stay under $300 if possible. I don't need a polished carb as this is not the show car. I have access to Pep Boys, Murray's Auto Parts or Auto Zone...after that it is to the internet for the purchase.

option - use a web rebuilder? was outta time earlier this summer. wanted to keep original carb so had it rebuilt for $319 at www.carbspec.comw/ 1 yr warranty & new electric parts (mc and tps but electric choke is same). included a quality gasket. had it back to me fast and answered questions. or could buy one of their in stock rebuilt carbs for $40 less IIRC. other sites that offer similar service, some 4 less some 4 more.
