edelbrock 1406 question

i am wanting to remove the secondary jets on my 1406 to see what size they are. i pulled the air horn assembly off and the "air valve" plates off. but i am unable to find the secondary jets. also once i find them, how do i take them out? do they just unscrew?

Re: edelbrock 1406 question

If you can't find the jets and you have the carb apart, that is not good. They are very obvious w/ the cover off. They just screw in the float bowls, 2x primary 2x secondary. Take a pic and post it

they're on the rear of the carb almost in the corners (nearest to the windshield side)flat head is all you need to remove.

Re: edelbrock 1406 question

that carb looks like it went through a war, DAMN!!!

secondaries are on the bottom of the pic, primaries on the top

those metal "walls" are over the rear secondaries, just grab them with a pair of plies and pull them out to get to them, they may be a little tough

Re: edelbrock 1406 question

yes there are, but with the looks of everything else, you may not be able to read them. I cannot stress this enough BE VERY CAREFUL when removing the jets, they are just brass(very soft). The secondary jets on my old 1406, brand new out of the box, were so tight i needed a manual impact driver to get them out, and even then i destroyed them
