carb shooting flames!!!!!!!!

ok so i started my car after some extensive wiring work and it has been sitting not turned on for a month then when i turned it on out of the carb shot a flame about half a foot tall until i turned it off would this just be burning to rich or do i have a serious problem?

Timing is off and/or you've got some plug wires mixed up it sounds like. Flames are cool but singed eyebrows aren't lol.

Timing is definitely off. My car did the same thing to me a few weeks ago and
singed a big chunk of hair off my head LOL.
