Confession: No Idea what I'm doing

I bought my 89 IROC with a 350 carb swapped in, and don't know a SINGLE thing about carbs besides they work.

I have an edelbrock 600 performer w/electric choke on right now, and want to know how to tune it, make it faster, help fuel economy.... the whole nine yards. I literally only know how to adjust the idle and mixture screws... not even kidding.

Can anyone suggest a book, or a thread, or anything at all that might help me figure some of this stuff out? Is an edelbrock 600 performer a decent carb to be running? Is it hard to tune? Should I get a new one? What wideband tuner should I get? Do I even really need one? Would the Edelbrock rich/lean indicator work (on summit: Edelbrock 6593)?

I literally do not know ANYTHING, and would like any help I can get. I want to learn, I just don't know where to start... at all.

THANKS!

Tuning an Edelbrock, start here: http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/ca...e-rebuild.html (Edelbrock Performer Service/Rebuild Information)

Personal opinion - The Edelbrock is one of the last choices for a performance carb. A Holley double pumper would be a much better choice with a T5 transmission.
