Air cleaner on a bird

Doing a carb swap on my 88 bird. I am running a Edelbrock air gap and 1406 carb. From searching it looks like I need a 1 drop base and can run a 14x3 filter? Am I correct here?

Just want to check before I order all this stuff from summit. Will I need a spacer between drop base and carb so the base doesnt hit the linkage and fuel inlet? If so how thick and then can a still run a 3" thick filter?

Help me out gents....

Re: Air cleaner on a bird

I had a Edelbrock 1 inch drop base 14x3 filter on my 82 firebird but I had a Edebrock performer intake with a 1406 carb and a 1" spacer, I didn't have any hood clearance issues, The drop base should be clearanced to fit around the linkage, I just used one of these for the fuel inlet http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
