swapping HSR for carb

I got a 355 w/ vortec heads and LT4 hot cam on it, and its got the HSR fuel injection. It just isn't making enough power, I read an article where they had the same motor but with a rpm dual plane intake and a 750 carb it made 420hp, and I can get the carb and intake off of a friend and sell the HSR. Just wondering what I will need for the swap?? Heres what I know so far:

1)New distributor, what kind??? vacuum advance?? or can i lock out my old distributor??

2)Fuel pressure regulator- return style

3)Intake gaskets

4)Rig up overdrive and fans to switches

anything else?? I'm going with a holley 750 and rpm street intake

i dont think its the HSR thats limiting the motor but if you go carb you will need bracket for TV cable to keep the tranny shifting and lockup the converter by switch if you like

I agree. The HSR has decent potential. But if you went for it, you would need a vacuum advance distributor and the return style FPR you can get from mallory. Don't know the part number off hand though but summit sells it.

You could use these parts:

afpr Mallory:http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

Summit distributor: http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
Although, I would suggest a upgraded unit with better coil, module, cap and rotor.

Like this:http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

I think these are the vortec intake gaskets:http://store.summitracing.com/partde...t=NAL-89017465

Throttle cable bracket:http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

Dropbase air cleaners "depending on your hood clearance":http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

I think the fuel pump and fan will still work with the ECU still intacked.

Not sure on the converter lockup.

Hope this gets you in a ballpark. You should be able to pickup most of these parts used.
