Found a suprise while tunning my Holley Street HP!!!

A few months ago I swapped from a modified 750vs to one of Holleys 750 dp Street HP's. I done my regular checks. I went over all the screws, adjusted the floats, installed notch float with jet extensions in back. Check the jets themself. Checked the transfer slots, throttle and pump linkage.

I took it to the track and was getting a bog off the line. I checked and I didnt have a good pump shot. I checked the pump linkage and adjusted the pump cam. I didnt have extra shooters that day, but thought I was ok. On the list, Holley has a 31 primary shooter and 28 secondary shooter. That was the only thing I didnt check.

Turns out it did have both the 31 and 28, but there reversed. They had the 28 in front and 31 in back. I left the 31 in back and went to a 35 in front.

Im going to the track tonight to get a few more passes. Im still tunning for the 1/2 inch carb spacer I added also.

I've always run a 31 front and 35 rear typically. I think that 35 front will be too big IMO.

Re: Found a suprise while tunning my Holley Street HP!!!

I went to the track last night and got my new best.

60 ft -----1.62
1/8 et-----7.641
1/8 mph---90.02
1/4 et-----12.01
1/4 mph---112.45

The 35 helped get rid of the hesitation. The plugs were new and after a pass were still white. I still need to do some more tunning. I might try the 31 in front and 35 in back.

I just wondered it Holley made a mistake installing the shooters or on there website and instructions. I guess it pays to check everthing on a new carb.

thinking about getting one of these street hp's to replace the 3310, either going with 650DP or 750VS. Are the street hp's dry or wet flow rated??

How much time did u shave off with the carb swap and did u tune any further?

Well my best with the old 3310 was a 12.16 at 110.55 in cool weather.

I swapped to the 750 Street HP and went a best of 12.01 at 112.88 mph. That pass was alright conditions, but not as good as the 12.16 pass. I am planning on going to the track this month. The 12.16 pass was in September last year so I should be able to find a good night with cool air.

The car should hit some 11.90's, so I would say I picked up 2 tenths at least and over 2 mph.

It has a 4.5 pv in front right now. My cam in gear is making between 10 and 12 inches of vaccuum. I think I will try a 6.5 and add some 110 race fuel.
I may play with the rear jets to get best mph also.
