Edelbrock 1406 carb & charcoal canister purge line
Alright, I have an Edelbrock 1406 on my Gen 0 crate motor. Edelbrock 2101 Performer manifold. I have my charcoal canister working correctly. I just need to know one thing.
Where do I plumb the purge line from the canister to the carb? Can it be tee'd into the PCV port? Should it go into the intake manifold somewhere?
I know that only the 1400 has the port for the charcoal canister, but can it be done on a 1406?
Re: Edelbrock 1406 carb & charcoal canister purge line
IIRC on a Qjet the canister purge control is connected to the EGR vacuum port, which is a timed port located higher up than the timed ignition port so it takes a larger throttle opening to see vacuum. The purge line itself should be Teed into the PCV port, but don't confuse it with the bowl vent line, which your carb doesn't have a connection for.
If it was me, I probably wouldn't worry about purging the charcoal canister with that carb.
Re: Edelbrock 1406 carb & charcoal canister purge line
No, they're saying don't connect the fuel pump to the PCV port.
With that carb, the purge canister is only going to collect fumes from the tank. All the fuel in the float bowls will still evaporate into the atmosphere and stink up the garage.

So according to you, it's ok to tee the PCV port for the PCV valve and the charcoal solenoid?

That's not an issue. I have a fuel shut off switch, and before temporary storage I run the fuel line dry.
The charcoal canister is opening the purge valve correctly, but because there is no vacuum to suck out the fumes from the purge port, the charcoal canister is completely full and starts dripping fuel.
I just need a way to clear the charcoal canister.
For long term storage I drain the tank so it's not a problem.
