So I was whipping this right hand turn today and the car completely died. Tried it a couple more times same deal. This carb has been rebuilt this summer but I was very unhappy with the work. It came back with a snapped pin on one side, so it got sent back again. Then came back with a bad mixture control solenoid. I had to get it fixed at a mechanic because the carb shop told me it worked. (there was no clicking) I am in the middle of getting my money back, paid with a credit card. What is wrong with my car now? Any suggestions please. Can this be related to my cars mysterious problem of idling at 1500 rpms shortly after startup(with choke off) for about 5 minutes then idling at 700 again?
Blind question here, how full is your gas tank? Thirdgens (Fuel Injected or not) are notorious for an unbaffled tank and having fueling issues around corners when low on gas.
I'm not saying that this IS your problem, but it is a possible problem.
I don't know what your issue is but I've had that problem before as well. It really sucked because I was at the top of a winding hill with at auto (no e-brake at the time).
I dont see how your power steering has anything to do with your fuel pressure. Sounds to me like the pickup in the tank is sitting a weird way. Qjets are basically the best carb out there vs angles and sloshing.
Check your fuel psi at idle and when you rev it make sure its at least 4psi idle. Should hit like 7 reving it.
I'm gonna go with your fuel gauge is off, and you're closer to 1/4 tank than 1/2. When I fly around corners on a low tank I lose all fuel pressure until the pump can suck up fuel again (stupid unbaffled tank).
is your steering column loose? just asking since you said it happens when you are turning. I had one a few years ago that the plug on the column was loosing contact and killing it when I was turning. hope this might help
