Hey, quick question for you guys: how high maintenance is the Holley 4777? I've heard it both ways, but I was recently told by my mechanic that I can look forward to tuning it every week, that its an extremely high maintenance carb. How true is that?
You can look forward to messing with it every week if you enjoy that kind of thing (like I do). Seriously, once you get the tune on it figured out, you'll rarely have to touch it. If you go drag racing and get serious, you may have to change jets on really hot or really cold race day.
Nope, no racing. Just cutting up around town Well, that doesn't sound too bad. It seems to be dialed in pretty dang good right now. Though I was told the metering block would need to be adjusted regularly.
Holleys really depend on the condition they are in. If its an older carb, yea it will probably be a pain in the ***. Mine however just had a rebuild bout a year ago, let the car sit for bout 5 months, cranked it up no prob.
