non cc carb+non computer hei=no computer?

i have a 84 camaro z28 and im building the "car craft 325hp 305" for it lol ive got pretty much the exact parts in/on my motor so it should move decent. im not lookin for nuthin crazy fast just a fun weekend car. but anyways. i swapped out the computer controlled quadrajet for a non-computer holley 650 and the cc hei distributor with a non-computer hei my friend gave me. can i take the computer out of my car now? is the carb and distributor all that it ran? sumbody told me it also controls emissions but i have no emissions in my car anymore cuz i dont need it where i live(longtube headers and straight pipes with glasspacks wooo lol) so can i take the computer out the car now? any help would be great im jus tryin to get my car finished as soon as possible. thanks

I did the same thing. I replaced the carb and the distributor. No more computer!!
Drives amazing. That and I cant tell ya for sure, but I gained alot of power.

The computer also controls the lockup in the transmission.Unless you swapped in a th350 or 400 you need to get that fixed.

Computer or no computer the TC will never lock up once you've removed the cc-QJet and cc-HEI. You need a stand-alone system to lock it up for you- there are a couple different varieties available on the market. I never bothered in most cases, but it can shorten the life of your trans.

On older cars like this the ECM isn't necessary once you've gone this far. On later vehicles (around 1991-up) you probably still want the ECM on board to run a few things like the speedometer for you.

and you can pull the ecm out along with the entire ecm harness, through the pass side fenderwell. please don't hack it up and leave pieces dangling.

sticky on top of carb forum with ways to control converter lockup.
