Barry Grant "Claw" Carb?

Anyone heard of or run these carbs? I purchased one by accident and figured might as well go through with it but wanted to know some info on it. Most I got was that BG modified these from Holley, Holley didn't like it and took him to court and afterwards was pissed so he created the "Demon" name and etc etc.

Anything else you guys could add? Thanks! Oh, it's a 750 Double Pumper.

Re: Barry Grant "Claw" Carb?

Barry grant started off tuning modding and performance rebuilding of 4150's down in florida, where most of the look of the claw series gets its inspiration from.. alot of interchangeables IIRC there were 2 series.. silver and gold. Holley sued him in regards of it looking exactally like their 4150's which is where he came out with the demon series, asthetically changed to appease holley but 98% of the guts are the same. the claws are a little more stubborn to tune then the demons..

I got his claw gold 750 dbl pumper mech sec. no choke 1 month ago, put it next to a 4150 to compare, to me the claw looks alot more stout and when hand operating the throttle by hand the cam feels smoother then the holley.. could just be me tho....

This sounds like an earlier carb, but they are virtually a copy of the Holleys. You should take it apart and clean/adjust everything, as BG has had issues with nice looking carbs that were just slapped together with machine filings in them and floats way out of adjustment. When set up properly, they run great.

Re: Barry Grant "Claw" Carb?

IMHO The Demons are the best. I just bought a new Speed Demon 750 dp for my 383. My dad has one on his 340 duster and 340 challenger and they screem.
