Looking to get a new carb and trying to figure out what cfm to get.If anyone can give me some good advise on one.It does see street and strip time.must have 4150 flange,no choke and machanical secondaries.I talked with holley and was told nothing smaller than a 950 HP,what do you think?? Engine specs: 396 C.I.D stroker 11.2:1 compression Fully forged lightweight crank,h-beam rods,forged aluminum flat top pistons with valve reliefs .635 lift .255 @.050 duration crane solid camshaft 7800 rpm valve float profiler pro aluminum heads that flow 325 cfm @.700 9" 4000 stall Edelbrock super victor intake manifold 4150 flange Nitrous in the near future

950hp would be fine

or

a quick fuel carb

or

pro systems carbs are really nice

I can get a deal on a holley 1040 cfm carb,you think its to much???

a holley 600 or 700 would do just fine

Assuming you don't want to be floating your valves and will be shifting more like 7500 RPMs, you'll need at least 850 CFM. 900 would be better.

1040 probably won't help you any over a 900 or 950. If you were running a dual plane intake, bigger can be better, but with single plane, extra flow capacity will just be wasted.

I agree with the Holley HP or QFT recommendations. I personally don't know anything about Pro Systems carbs, but don't doubt the recommendation.

My advise to you is to not base your carb purchase on internet reccomendations. Nothing against anyone but speaking to a rep from a good carb shop can net great results. Patrick at Pro systems carbs will build you a perfect carb. I have a demon and could do much better.

i called a few places today that build carbs,was told to get something between 950-1050 cfm.I was told the same by holley and quick fuel
