600 Holley loading up

Guys, I need some help! Engine- 350,CC254 4X cam ( 210/218,111LC ), 600 Holley ( 1850 ), Edel Performer EPS man. This is mainly a good weather vehicle, sits in the winter. Drove it a few times to work and back, as the weather got better, this spring. Last time out, ran fine to work, but loaded up bad at startup to come home. Since the motor is in a Toyota Land Cruiser, I have the spring loaded needle and seats that Holley offers, and have added tubes to the bowl vents for off camber positions ( this was done in the last couple of weeks ). It just wants to blow black smoke at idle, and not really idle really well ( 1000 rpm ). Fuel system consists of- seat tank to Fram canister type fuel filter, Carter street pump ( electric 3-5 lbs ) to carb. Fuel set to bottom of sight plugs, got to jiggle truck to have run out the hole. Have been using an SA book on Holleys from autozone for reference. I'm stumped . The ONLY good thing to come out of this so far, I have a Ford Top Loader 4spd that my brother wants, told him I'd trade for a TBI setup. Any idea's I need to look at? Many frustrated thanks, Al

Re: 600 Holley loading up

sounds similar to what happened to me a couple times after my cars winter nap, it would start and begin to chug, and upon further inspection i discovered it was drooling fuel into the secondaries

i dont really know why but i assumed needle and seat on the secondaries was getting crud in it not allowing it to shut and thus overfilling the bowl

i took it apart blew it all out with carb cleaner and was good it go
