uh ok... still doesn't tell what it is but guessing by your lack of info, it's probably some stock gutless engine that could probably run with a 390 cfm carb.

In my experience, the two best carbs you can use on a wide range of builds for a 350 (from about 200hp to around 400hp) are the good old Qjet, and the Holley 3310 (750 vacuum secondary). I've used both on 350s from 180hp low compression weaklings to solid 400hp engines. Both work great. Either of thos carbs would likely be a good choice.
Would be better to have info like what heads you are using, what intake, exhaust, camshaft, etc etc.
Generally one can't go wrong with the Holley 3310 or a Quadrajet on a 350 though.
Stock carb for almost every 350 ever made was a Qjet, which was either 750cfm or 800cfm, depending on the year. The 3310 Holley is also a 750 and it works just fine on even the mildest 350s. Those are both very versatile carbs.
If it's a stocker? Iwouldn't go above 600cfm. 490 sounds 'bout right. QuadJ, Edelbrock, or Holley??
hi.. if you can find a q-jet ..then go for it...i think the holley would be good too , but 750 cfm seems a little too much for the type of 350 you have...you can also try a edelbrock 1406 600cfm ..they are pretty good too ..again for the 350 you mention..
Thats what i was thinking was a 650 or 700 holley 4 barrell. Im not really sure though. But i know for now that i do want a holley carb.
Thanks guys......Any more suggestions will be helpful.
A 750vs Holley isn't always a 750.... only if it needs to be. With a vacuum secondary carb, the secondaries only open as much as the engine needs, so you really can't "over carb" an engine with a vacuum secondary carb.
I still think the 3310 is the best choice for you... mine was GREAT when my 350 was just an 8:1 compression, small cammed, 200hp stock engine. Awesome drivebility, great fuel economy, and bulletproof reliability once I put an electric choke on it.

you can't over-carb with a vacuum secondary . this type of carb provides good performance and decent fuel economy..let us know what you decide....
Thats exactly what i want. something thats good on gas and still has great performance. I believe i have made up my mind. Thanx guys for all of your help.

I'll have to disagree. While that might be true if the VS carb is close to the "right" size, an 850 VS carb on an engine that only "uses" 400 CFM will never open the secondaries, and the primaries are going to be so big that air velocity through the venturi will be so poor that the booster signal will be weak, leading to poor throttle response and terrible fuel economy.
Properly tuned and driven similarly conservatively, a DP will get just as good of fuel economy as a VS Holley. But, for the best driveability and economy with power potential, you can't beat a q-jet.

I don't know if you bought or ordered a carb yet, not sure exactly what you are looking for, but I do have a holley 4160 600cfm 4bbl carb with vacuum secondaries and electric choke for sale if you are interested.
