Carb probs

Hi All,
I am having problems with carb staying idle.It dies out after I start the car.Heres the situation.I recently replaced the stock carb and intake with a Edelbrock SP2-P and a Edelbrock 600 carb.Having put everything back together, the car would idle very high.I adjusted the timing, and when it finally was somewhat stable,I tried to drive it and it drove like crap.
.Ok,so I put my original carb back on (Quadrajet) .I know this works.
Now when i start it up, the car wont stay running. It just dies right out.And while its running(for a short moment) I hear a high pitched sound.Dont know where its coming from. Can anyone help?

Re: Carb probs

Need more information. What distributor do you have? If it's a stock US LG4 it will have a computer controlled carb/dist.

If that's true the Edelbrock 600 will need a different distributor. It will run like a complete turd, if at all otherwise.

Make sure that the carbs base gasket is in good shape and it's sealed down. Need to know more about your setup to help any more then that.
