I'm confused you said you have a tbi car than you say you have a carb at the end.. do you mean you swapped a q-jet on it already?
if u add a carb to a computer controlled engine, ur ganna have problems.. look online at summit or jegs and find a tbi manifold and tbi throttle body.. u might be able to find parts there that will bolt on and make it faster.. i have the same motor set up as u .. i added a full exhaust, rear gears, hypertech chip, shift kit, underdrive pully kits and an open element air filter. i notice the difference

about hypertech chip..... i was wondering how much horse power did it gave to your car?
sorry for my dumb question.. but I just get a little confused now
4bbl quadrajet LG4 = TBI = computer stuff right ?
and I read that you bypass that things.. ?
just disconnect the cables ? cant find any helpfull threads around here..
I´m allready reading all day long different threads about lg4 modding..
I got a 87´ 305 V8 with the 4bbl quadrajet (LG4)
Currently I am doing basic stuff like rust-killing, paintjob, renewal of fuel lines.. I am planning to get more ponys under the hood..
as far as I understood this, it is not just "plug & play" with an other "real" carb. ??
It is true that all 3rd gen f-body carb V8's had computers (except some delivered to Canada), and all TBI cars had computers, but that doesn't make them equal.

The computer controlled q-jet is the best street performance carb available, so don't go dissing it by referring to others as "real". Personally, I don't consider Edelbrocks to be "real" carburetors, at least not a "real" choice if performance is your goal.
If you read the thread on the differences between 305's and performance improvements that is on the FAQ forum, you'll see that the stock computer controlled carb is the last thing you replace when seeking to improve performance; and by the time you reach that point you don't have a streetable car anymore, anyway.
on my 87 IROC LG4, I just unhooked all computer connections, and it was good to go, went from 11's in the 1/8th to high 9's with shorty headers, intake mani,373 posi, flowmaster 3" catback, Edelbrock 1406, on 245-60-16 street tires on all 4's with smog crap, fun car when I was 20, now at 31 I need at least a 7.0 in the 1/8th for it to be "fun"
shorty headers, intake mani,373 posi, flowmaster 3" catback, ... on 245-60-16 street tires on all 4's with smog crap...
Do all that and keep the CC q-jet, and you'll be just as fast and maybe faster, and it'll still be smog legal and retain good street manners and economy.

If going faster is your goal that's the wrong place to start. The factory q-jet is a very good carb as far as performance goes assuming it's in good condition. Granted other carbs are much prettier than a boring old factory q-jet, if pretty is your goal than you'll be in good shape. If going fast is your goal you may be able to get it to run just as fast as it did with the factory q-jet (after replacing the dist. with a vaccum advance unit and tuning your carb) but your gas mileage will suffer as well as your wallet. In other words replacing a factory q-jet is a total waste of money, start with something that makes sense. The best bang for your buck would be to get rid of the entire exhaust system and start with a decent free flowing system headers back.
hmmmm okey thanks for the info...
I just read the thread about fine tuning the quadrajet here in thirdgen.. will give this a try..
exhaust I will get from Sebring (belongs to remus).. friend of mine works there and will manufacture me one in free time.. but this will be not too soon I guess :\
