I have 1990 camaro with tpi the fuel pump went out so I am going to replace next week. The question is (Is there a certain type that I can use temp. for the tpi that also will work for carb?) I will be changing to carb soon but I need to get it rolling with the tpi in use. Oh yea its elec. type in tank.
Thanks for the help and ideas.
you are goingto have to replace it with a tpi pump if you plan on using it for the tpi temp.. there is no way around it. as for going carb i believe that most are using the same pump with the return style regulator.
Thanks that was what I thought but there is always something new out there, any suggestions on the best pump so I wont have to go back into tank anytime soon?
remember that your tpi is valuable and even more valuable if you take off every wire, cutting none, and doing the entire system - up to the firewall on the motor side and also up to the firewall on the passenger side.
they are great for 305's.
Just don't get Autozone or Advance stuff, unless you're making the access panel so it's easy to change. I used a CarQuest pump - cheaper than stealership, and better than junk.
No fuel line changing whendo go to carb - just get fittings to attach to what you have, and definitely the return style regulator - nothing else will work - something like the Mallory 4309 regulator.
I got the mallory regulator on mine. Easy to setup and easy to tune. The hardest part was getting those metric bump fittings for the fuel lines.
speaking of those fittings....What did you use? Where did you get them? I want to do like you did and adapt the existing fittings to either a barb or an 'AN' fitting
