So, as some of you know, I've had my car sitting in my garage since about labor day after I was having some transmission issues. (I've since replaced the slave / master assembly and changed fluid, still not sure if it will go into 4th gear since I haven't drivin it) But I had my Holley 650 DP running like a top. Last time I drove it was Memorial day weekend to my buddies funeral and it ran great. I recently started it up to back it out of the garage to wash it and the idle quality was pretty bad.
Before this I had it idling around 1,000 rpm and it ran great. Now it sits right around 4-500 rpms and wont stay running for it's life. I don't have a thermostat in it, not sure if this would make a differance, never did before. I haven't touched ANYTHING since Memorial day. I got pretty frustrated and just parked it in the garage. I am also still running the stock TBI pump with a regulator. I have a new pump sitting in the garage to replace it with once I get ambition. I've been really down latley with other things and my car is not helping with anything...
This car is really starting to become a headache and I'm ready to give up... It still has an oil leak I can't track down, leaks trans fluid still and I don't know why.
If anyone has any insight it would be helpful. Information is in signature.
Thanks,

Get a can of spray carb cleaner and spray into the idle air bleeds while running. Some gas detergent added to the tank and fresh gasoline wouldn't hurt, either.
I know you're running a Holley, but the Edelbrock website has a tech video explaing how to fix what your problem is. Basically, you need to blow compressed air into the idle circuits to clear out any dust or dirt that may have gotten in there and settled while the car sat. That's what I did, and it worked wonders.
Do you use the choke? If it's wired wide open it'll run pretty bad until the motor gets some heat in it. If you do run a functioning choke maybe it's sticking either open or closed and causing problems. Seems unlikely dirt would get in there just sitting, unless something happened while you were cleaning it.

Out with the wheezing TBI dumptruck engine, in with a nasty little AFR-headed solid cammed 454 taken "back to basics" with big Holley 4bbl, single plane intake, big headers, loud exhaust, and nothing remotely close to emissions compliance or good fuel economy. Loud, dangerous, anti-social and lots of fun.
78 Malibu. Inherited from my Grandomther with only 35K on the odo! 13.4 @ 107 with mild N/A 383. With Weiand 142 blower installed....... not quite so mild. Orignially shooting for 11.99 on street tires, but mid 12s appears to be the best it's gonna do- nowhere near enough traction.

Thanks for the replies. I don't have a choke on my carb. I'll give some of these ideas a try once i get some time to work on this thing... Been busy with a lot of other things lately. Don't even have my car registered anymore...
