Help choosing a carb - Third Generation F-Body Message Boards

ok guys i've got an 88 camaro with a 3 spd auto 373 gears and a 3k stall. I'm going to be sticking in a stock 350 from an 89 formula. The only carb I have is a 750 demon. I don't know much about carbs but this just seems big especially since this is gonna be my daily driver for a little while. My question is will this work temporarily until I can afford a new one? and what is a good suggestion for a new carb on a budget? I've been looking at the edelbrocks they seem to be in the right price range but I'm not sure what size to go with. Will 600cfm be enough?

Also, what kinda mileage could I get with this? I'm sure it's going to be horrible but I'm just a little curious. Need anymore info just let me know.

You're correct a 750 Demon is too big for your little 350 in it's stock form.
Next Question is whic Demon? Speed? Mighty?

The 650 Mighty Demon Vac Secondaries would be a better choice, the Edelbrocks IMO aren't worth the price of the box they come in...but what do i know, i've only been doing carburetors for 40 years.

Price should not be the deciding factor in a carb purchase, good advice from a carb expert should be the decision maker. Unless you just like suffering and frustration.

I'm no long time carb guru, but I've had my Edelbrock 1405 for 3 years now, and have had no trouble at all. It was basically plug and play right out of the box, with very little adjustment, and I haven't touched it since the day I installed it - very easy, and well worth the $249 retail IMO. on the wallet

373 gears are going to kill mileage with any carb. I have 342's, and I'm getting 17mpg, so your 373's are going to be worse on the wallet.

same here, my 1405 edelbrock on my 350 is great since i installed it.

Well I think I'm going with a 600cfm edelbrock. The reason I choose this is because I keep reading about how simple they are and I'm complete newb to carbs. And price is definately a factor I just totaled my dd and have very little money to get this car together with.

and camaronewbie are you getting 17mpg's with a 3spd or 700r? I figure with a 3spd 373 posi mileage will be terribe.
