re: best way to tune an edlebrock 600cfm with electric choke?
I simply tuned mine for optimum vacuum. Started with screw on left, tuned for most vacuum on left port, then again on the right, then adjusted left screw for better vacuum on right port, and then right screw for left port. Then, adjusted timing up a bit for even more vacuum, and adjusted idle down to compensate for higher timing, then rechecked vacuum again.
Not sure if it's "right", but it's worked for me, and that was 3 years ago with no adjustments since.

Setting the idle screw and choke is just a small part of tweaking the carb.... Did you get the little book with the carb that has all the tune up data in it??? If not, it's available on line at the Edelbrock site. You will also find they sell a kit with springs, needles, jets, and the information on how to calibrate both the transition and WOT circuits in the carb.... They work great on the street if you take the time to go through the whole calibration process step by step!!!!!

You need a $5 vacuum guage - plug it to the vacuum ports on the front of the carb and tune to best (highest) vacuum you can get as I described.
Yeah, you can go alot more in depth with needles, jets, etc. - but a simple tune based off vacuum readings will get you up and running, and you can fine tune later if needed.
