Hood clearance with dual plenum NEW PICS!!
hello all
i wil make a dual air plenum under the hood of a iroc-z.
i have the stock hood with louveres.
the engine is a 350 with edelbrock performance rpm intake
and a holley 4160 double pumper.
i will know if i had enough hood clearance with my stock hood and this setup to fit a dual air plenum with a high of 3,5 inch
i was thinking on the 90* from spectre.
has anyone some nice pictures of instaled setups??
Thanks Dennis

I believe the answer is "no, it won't fit under a stock hood".
I have a single on the '57, which I intend to pop off and check on the Camaro (don't have the Holley on right now, though).
The low profile version should fit with no problem, though. But, it's only available in 180 degree type, I believe.
Have you considered their dual inlet air box? 2.4" height, flows over 1200 CFM, much less expensive than the Ramairbox kits. Even the single snorkel unit flows 975 CFM.

Re: Hood clearance with dual plenum
okey so your not sure if it wil fit or not!
the reason i will take a duel plenum is that i like my new holley carb,it looks so racey!
and everybody hase a normal looking airfilter under the hood and i will some different than other people.
my idee was to move the battery to the trunk to make some clearance for the dual pipes with open airfilters.
it would be nice if you can look for me for the clearance of the hood!

The standard height hat will not fit. About an inch taller than my dual snorkel, which puts the lid nut into the hood blanket. With the hat on, the hood was about 3" from closing.
The low profile version should fit without a problem.

Re: Hood clearance with dual plenum
do you now where i can get the low profile version?
or i was thinking of buy one of the 3.5 inch high plenum
and cut about 0.5 inch on the underside of the plenum so the high go`s to 3 inch!
look at the link and the pictures of the details!!

I find what I'm looking for on the spectreperformance.com site, then search for the part number on summitracing.com.
For instance, the low profile dual plenum "hat" is part number 98599, $136.39 on Summit's site. The 120 degree low profile sheet metal plenum is 9824, $121.99 on summitracing.com.

No, you can't cut it down. You'd lose the sealing surface to the carb.
84 Kamp311 isn't very active. You might want to try sending him a PM. Looks like the Spectre 2.5" unit, though.

Re: Hood clearance with dual plenum
I tried the non low profile dual plenum on my car w/ the stock flat hood, and it was a no go.
Intake was a Holley Street Dominator (older version from the 70's) and an Edelbrock 650 AVS.
The outlets on the plenum were too high in front of the engine, as well as the bonnet itself if I turned it around.

Re: Hood clearance with dual plenum NEW PICS!!
nice set up! i think this just gave me an idea for my car. but a lil different maybe. so it fits with your stock hood?
i was thinking if this set up would fit under a stock hood but with a air gap intake if what i have tho.

The carb doesn't sit any higher on an Air Gap intake than it does on the non-Air Gap version of the same intake.

hi , thanks for the comments.
pfff i don`t know ecxactley how much braided hose i have use for it
i have orded 2 mtr total of it and i have about 30 or 20 cm left of it
so if you do it my way u need 2 mtr that`s enough for it.

You can just plug that vacuum spot on the intake and drill an tap one farther back on the runner.
