Fuel pump issues
First I'd like to say I've been a long time lurker and enjoy reading these forums. I just bought an 85 Z28 that looks as if Frankenstein himself tried disassembling it. The body is near perfect so that was why I bought it. The AC has been yanked completely including the blower motor and housing. (A/C delete kit will be bought for the future) I normally stick to vehicles with body work as that is where my specialty lies, I don't have any formal mechanical knowledge just learned what I know from years of being around mechanics, youtube videos, and normal "I'm not dumb I know how to do this" type things.
I bought a 350 off of craigslist for $200 bucks and finally have it almost finished. But I am having a problem figuring out the best way to supply fuel. The engine was out of a 95 chevy k2500 and has the mechanical fuel pump block off plate installed, I want to throw a carb on there, which exact on e I haven't decided yet.
I have the two fuel lines on the passenger frame rail running to where the mechanical pump would go, but I also seem to have 2 other metal lines on the drivers side frame rail that were (very crudely might I add) bolted in and run to the gas tank but do not hook up to anything. The two on the passenger side run to the tank where it appears they go to the (intake pump?)
Does anyone know what those lines on the drivers side would be for?
and the generic question of "What is the more reliable route to go? Electric pump mounted near the tank, or just stick with the mechanical pump? What would be the less time consuming method? and please someone have some idea of what the fuel lines on the drivers side are used for.
thanks!
