fuel pump removal Q's

First, do you have to drop the axle to drop the fuel tank?

What are some choices of good quality, dependable electric inline fuel pumps? Do they come with good instructions?

Someone should do a tech article on this.

I thought about it...but there just isn't enough material to cover to take up an entire article. Yes, you have to drop the rear end at least 6" or so below the farthest the shocks extend.

You can put a pickup inside the tanks..but I prefer external fittings. Find the lowest spot in the tank. Then you can either bolt in a bulkhead fitting, have a 1/2" NPT fitting welded on, or go all the way and have a sump welded on. Since you have to drop the tank anyway, it's not a big deal.

Any street oriented inline pump will work fine (mine is just a cheapie 140gph summit brand), but be warned, they are all noisey as hell. Unless you have some unusual need for an electric ( I have one because I need to step up the pressure under boost) just go with a mechanical. They're quieter, more durable, and flow plenty.
