carb shooting out fuel????

when i try and start my car it will crank over and then two steams of fuel comes shooting strait out of carb what is worng with it? or why is that? its an eldbrock 750 somone please help me this sucks. did i blow up somthing in the carb or what? anyone please give me detailed instrouctions on this one. i dont know that much about carbs.

Depends on exactly where it's shooting from; it could be that, for some reason the float is holding the needle valve open, and the fuel fills the bowl and keeps flowing out the vent tube on top of the carb.

Petes wright on this on,the float level is either to high or the float is stuck. Try adjusting the float level,the big nut and screw on top of the fuel bowl is how you adjust them. If that has no effect on it then the flaot is stuck. You can try to tap and the side of the fuel bowl with a screw driver to try to get it unstuck but if that doesn't work you'll have to take the bowls off.

heh, that happend when I first put my new holley on.. shot fuel out the vent and sprayed the hood.. tapped the side and all was fine.

ok guys i will try that tomarrow and see what happens hoplefully i wont have to take the bowles off

wait a min this is on a edelbrock carb so it dont have the bowles holley has so that means i have to take the top part of the carb huh?

you have the fuel pressure regualted???...edelbrock should only get 6-7 psi
