What are the symptoms of a bad power valve on Holley DP.

I have a new Holley DP and I am having some idle quality problems and I am wondering if maybe I have a bad power valve? I know the new HOlley's have "power valve protection" but I have had some backfires thru the carb and I am sure they can still be blown. Any suggestions would be apprecitaed becasue I am a EFI man working on a carb which is a lot like a pig looking at a wrsit watch! Thanks Steve

Yeah they can still blow. The easiest way to tell if that is the source of your idle problems is get it running and idling as best as it can. Check to be sure that fuel doesn't pour out of the sight plugs when you open them. Then, close down the idle mixture screws.

If it stays running or runs better, your PV is blown. Replace it/them.
