Setting MC dwell

Hey all,
Ok here is my dilemma. Trying to set the dwell to 50% on my q-jet (at idle) and all I can get it to do is go across the scale. It starts out at like 75% then slowly goes down to around 10%. (takes about 1 minute to do this) I give the throttle a little blip and it goes the other direction. Hit the throttle again and the same thing. What gives? By the way I am using my auto x-ray to look at the dwell in a percent value, put I do have an analog dwell meter too if it's better to use that. Any help is appreciated.

Connect dwell meter to terminal B on the enrichment solenoid connector.

Allow engine to reach operating temp. The dwell meter should vary while resetting base idle if neccessary.

Set parking brake, put into DRIVE.

Dwell meter should fluctuate between 10` and 50` on the 6 cylinder cycle, the ocilloscope should indicate 15%-85% duty cycle.

Adjust idle air bleed screw in 1/8th turns until 251`-35`. Optimum is 30` (50% duty cycle). Allow system to react between adjustments.

If this doesn't work, then you have to adjust the idle mix screws...
