Guy's can I check it with out takeing the carb apart? If I have to take the carb apart do I have to reset anything (tps mixture control or anything else)? what should the float be set at? thanks

Yeah, you have to take the airhorn off to check the float level. After you get it back together you definitely want to reset the TPS. The MCS lean stop won't be affected, but the rich stop (if you have an airhorn mounted stop screw) might be slightly changed, but i don't think it would move enough to even matter. Same withe the IAB, although it wouldn't hurt to reset it anyway, esp. if it is set right now and you move the float level.
As for the spec on the float, it depends on the particular carb #. Rebuild kits generally come with a sheet with specs for everything they service. I don't think my haynes has any such specs listed. If someone comes in here and says something on the order of 'all qjets are set at xxx' they are lying. Like i said, rebuild kits come with a sheet full of numbvers for EVERY different carb #, and they are all different, and correct float height is a very big deal.

Ack, i'll be typing all morning...
Here's a synopsys, if you need more detail you'll have to get a manual. Hell, getting a manual would be an OK idea anyway.

Check/set float- take off airhorn. Hold the front of the float down to seat the needle, get your measuring implement (ruler) and measure the height of the back of the float. To adjust you bend the flat arm.

TPS- First you need to remove the plug covering it. To the right of the acc. pump arm you'll see the plug. Very carefully drill a small hole in the plug, then screw a small self-tapping screw into the hole. Pull out with pliers.
To adjust you need a special tool, you can get it at www.thexton.com , i don't rememeber the PN offhand. It comes in a carb adjusting kit.
You check the voltage by measuring between the middle and bottom wires ceoming from the front DS of the carb. With the throttle closed (and not on fast idle cam) you should get 0.5 V, and it should smoothly increase through it's range of motin to somewhere past 4V at WOT.

To set the IAB is a little trickier. There's a special tool to rough it in if you've removed it, but if it's still set as stock then it's close. Basically you adjust this with the car in gear and a dwell-meter hooked up to the green connector found by the heater blower motor. Try to get 30' dwell.
You screw the IAB down to richen things, and VV.
