Re: New High rise on my Vert let meknow what you think

Isn't it a little cold to be driving around with the top down?
Looks good.
This is also just my opinion but, I think you need to lose the bra. Not that it looks bad or anything, but it's just something to rub the paint, then when it gets tore up and you take it off so it will look good, the rest of the paint will be faded and the front won't be. Just my thought though.

Looks like a great car. I would suggest some snowmobile mittens and a ski mask if your gonna keep driving with the top down though.

Re: New High rise on my Vert let meknow what you think

I've seen this before on another convertible, but not one that was painted and ready to roll. I really like it, but I think it would look a lot better with the Z28 hood with blisters like you said you're planning on doing.

Can we get some more angles on it, like directly from the side, from the back, etc.? And what all did you do to make it fit without screwing up the ability to return it to stock?

Re: New High rise on my Vert let meknow what you think

I surprised myself. I usually don't like the high spoilers on almost anything, BUT after seeing yours, I actually think it looks pretty darn good! It seems to work nicely (dare I say nicer) on a vert.

PS; just curious why the IROCZ side decals are up front on the door?

Very sweet ride regardless.

Re: New High rise on my Vert let meknow what you think

Looks very good! I've never liked the high-rise spoiler, but I'm not really surprised it looks good on a 'vert. A 'vert is the only car I've ever thought it might look good on, so I'm glad to see it does.

The only things I'm not thrilled about are the quarter panel trim pieces. With that spoiler and the trim, as they are, it looks kind of pieced-together.

Now, if someone were to do some real bodywork to a 'vert and delete or modify that quarter panel trim, it would make the car look like it would've/could've/should've been designed by GM, as a factory-built conversion, rather than like the afterthought that it was.

And in that case, the high-rise spoiler, or the similar '88 Camaro's low-rise spoiler(which sits completely on the deck/trunk lid), would be the perfect spoilers... IMO. But then even no spoiler at all would look good.

Another option for a modified 'vert might be a luggage-rack "spoiler." And that would be useful, too. I saw one of those on a Grand Am in a junkyard, sitting next to a thirdgen. Looked like an interesting possibility.

I couldn't possibly agree any more! I wish someone would do this! I'd like to at least see what's hiding under that trim piece to know what would be involved.

I just replaced my 1/4 panel, and have pics.

You would have to take the top of another set of fenders, and blend them in. It can be done if you have welding skills. Just alot of labor.

Re: New High rise on my Vert let meknow what you think

Thats a nice car! However I'm not too fond of the rear high rise spoiler on a vert. I think they only look good on coupes. The reason I say this is because it doesn't look copathetic with the rest of the car when the top is down. The lines are off. I had an 87 Corvette Roadster that had an ugly *** rear wing on the car in which I removed. It was high like yours and took away from the visual affect of the car at certain angles. Even more so with the top down. Now the hood blisters I believe go well on any camaro vert/coupe. However since its your car.. do as you please.

I saved these pics from a while ago. They ground down the lip on the "spoiler sides" so they could mount the spoiler in the right spot, at the back of the trunk lid. I also saw pics of a red vert with the side pieces removed and the high rise. Someone must have them somewhere.

To be honest I am usually not a big fan of the "High Rise" but I gotta say that it looks really nice! I agree w/ the others that you should lose the bra and I look forward to seeing her with the new hood.

Love that look. What does it look like from the rear? Along the rear of the trunk edge there is an indent(were the 3rd light is). Did you leave it or fill it? Here is a blue one in Winnipeg http://www.usedwinnipeg.com/classified-ad/6881775

I think the high rise looks better on a hard top. The stock spoiler actually looks best to me. However, it isn't too bad with the top up.

thats hot!!! just what i was looking for.. only thing i would have done was not take the side spoilers off i would have cut the raised part at the end where it would meet up with the stock spoiler and fiberglass over the hole so that the side spoiler still was on the car and be flush for the high rise spoiler and not allowing water to get to the seam of the car.. looks great tho nice work man
