I know that this site has an exhaust forum but the convertibles seem to to require " special" parts. The CAT is toast on my wifes 1990 IROC vert and I would like to upgrade the whole eaxhaust system, including the stock manifolds with headers if necessary.
The original 305 was replaced with a 400CID short block and the stock 305 heads rebuilt and reinstalled. Along with the new exhaust I plan to install a set of Trick Flow heads to help the thing breath.
The with this in mind, which exhaust manufacture would you recomend for a complete exhaust system, either from stock manifold back or complete, headers, CAT, and cat back...
I went with a full three inch exhaust picking parts from the Summit catalog. Most of the peices ended up being Magnaflow. Here's my parts from the engine back:
Edelbrock TES Headers (holding up welll!)
Magnaflow Y-pipe (3")
Magnaflow Cat (MPE-93509CA)
Dynomax I-pipe (WLK-44063)
Magnaflow Axle Pipe (lost part #)
Flowmaster 80's
I wish I would have gone with the Magnaflow or Borla exhaust but I really have no complaints.
Looks like you had to do alot of cutting and welding? The SFC in the pics are not the same as the ASC installed connectors, were these added later ontop of the ASC stuff?
Zero cutting and those aren't the ASC SFC's. The SFC's are from Top Down Solutions (preferred TGO vendor) and had options to bolt-in or weld. I chose to weld.
Maybe I should have asked a different question, does anyone know of a complete exhaust system that fits a 1990 IROC convertible? Headers, CAT and cat back. It looks like most of the exhaust system manufactures have abandoned the third gens.

Try Macperformance.com I just checked they have third gen exhaust pieces. I run a full MAC exhaust on my 92 Mustang,it's LOUD,has a Pro Chamber on it. We do sell convertors for it though.
Now all I need is a set of SS headers with A.I.R tubes and a SS Y pipe for a single CAT. SLP doesnt sell exhaust parts for third gens now, and I havent seen any other brands that make emmmisions legal SS headers. Guess I will have to start looking for a used set of SLP 1 3/4" headers.
