Verts: '87 Formula & '85 IROC-Z, both by ASC

Found these for sale, thought you might like to see them. I asked the owners if either car had ASC IDs on them in the door jamb...neither did. But they look to be ASC. (do you agree, okfoz?)

1985 IROC-Z Convertible. This car was bought for Tinker Airforce Base in Oklahoma City. It has been restored to peak condition. 79,000 actual miles. Engine, Transmission, interior and exterior have all been redone in the past three years. The convertible top is two-years old. Engine is 5.7 tpi, transmission 700-4R, wheels match the color of the car. If you have any questions about the car I can give you some information but most information was archived by Tinker Airforce Base and I cannot find out what all it was used for. I do know there was only about 20 of these cars made especially for Tinker Airforce Base. I have looked up the Title on the computer and it shows that it was
tagged mostly by Tinker but it does not tell what it was used for. Either send me your phone number or e-mail address and I will get back to you.

1987 Firebird Formula

This is a 1987 firebird convertible. I'm told that it's one of only 150 firebird and Trans Am convertibles sold in 1987. I don't know why they didn't sell more. It's a nice design. It's been garage kept since I purchased it a few years ago and has only been driven on nice days or hot nights.

It runs good and steers straight. The interior is without stains, rips or tears. It's a good daily driver. It has a nice V8 sound as well. The 4-speed automatic transmission is the smoothest trans that I've ever driven. Seriously, it's wonderful! This car is also designed to drive at low RPM's. 65 mph is only 2400 rpms. It's always smooth even though it has pleanty of muscle.

The car does have a little bit of surface rust, door dings, paint blemishes, and small scratches. but it's not too bad. (see pictures) You can have it painted if you'd like, but I think it's fine just the way it is.

This is one of those cars that you can purchase, enjoy, drive and brighten your life with. If you drive it respectively, store it in a garage and keep it clean, you will greatly enjoy this vehical. In addition, in a few years, you should be able to sell it for much more than you paid.

It's not perfect, but then again, I'm not looking for premium dollar. I just need the garage space for something else.

It needs an AC belt. The car never had one when I bought it and I never had one put on. I don't know if the AC works. I mostly drive at night with the top down. The headlight motors stick. (common) The headlights open up, but they need a little bit of help. Nobody ever replaced the stereo or speakers, the speakers in back need to be replaced. It's fine for me, I keep it off most of the time. I love the sounds of summer.

To the best of my knowledge, this is an original car. Everything looks stock and the numbers probibly match, but I don't know for sure. I drive the car on nice days and always get positive looks. This is a fun car to own and drive. It gets about 26 mpg on the highway.

If you fly in, I can pick you up at a Chicago airport and take you to the car. I would also be happy to drive the car to your location for reasonable expenses. (assuming it's paid for) Call me with any questions. Steve 630-205-8259.

WRONG.

AutoForm was the 2-seater. ASC cars also had a tag in the door jamb. The ASC tag did not track a serial number, it was just a label that said they did the conversion and that it met federal requirements.

Thats not an 85, for multiple reasons. Its some sort of Frankenstein.

I dont see the extension pieces on the door
99% sure that windshield washer tank was not used until 87 or 88
AC lines are for a LG4/L69 car
TA airbox and filter housing
CHMSL so its absolutely NOT an 85 if they claim those parts to be original
I'm stretching... but... looks like centerbolt valve covers
My camaro history is lacking but, those taillights do not look right to me

Who knows what that thing is. Its certainly got parts from multiple years.

The Formy is nice.

Here is the tag . . .

It often goes missing from wear, age, or repanting.

Also regarding the door trim extensions, they too often go missing as the years go by.

Surely that's a typo on the IROC-Z, $7,500 and not $75,000?

Re: Verts: '87 Formula & '85 IROC-Z, both by ASC

Actually The motor (at least the TPI setup) appears to be from a 1987 Trans Am, Formula or GTA... Notice the Cold air intake is of the Firebird variant.

The MAF would be located on the Right side of the car, it would not be visible in from that angle.
