Seatbelt Question

So I have a 92 Convertible Z28 and am looking to pick up a spare set of seatbelts. Will seatbelts from a non-convertible Z28 work in the rear of the car or are they specific to the convertible. I believe the fronts are convertible specific.

I also have the tan interior so if you know of a set that are available please let me know.

Re: Seatbelt Question

I'm not familier with the coupe, but I know that my vert's rear shoulder belt retractors are very vert specific. They are mounted to the tonneau cover . . .

If this is the same in the '92 vert, I'm not sure how compatible the verts 2-pc rear shoulder/lap belts would be. The retractors are mounted in a totally different place on the coupe. Is the mount style on the coupe the same just flipped over and on the body?

Re: Seatbelt Question

That is what I have heard I have not personally changed them so not positive though. My 87 (that I am currently parting out) only had lap belts.

Re: Seatbelt Question

I know , but too many curious readers browsing this topic, they may have had no idea there was a difference through the years and/or which ones had or didn't have them. Why yours doesn't and some do. It was just a tidbit of info for everyone's consumption.

Re: Seatbelt Question

I was under the impression that retrating shoulder belts was a 92 only thing. Is this incorrect?

The 92 rear belts are mounted under the tonneau behind the rear seats. They mount vertically and are covered by a 2 piece housing.Thats how they were on the 92 rs vert I parted a few years back

Chokestra - I will keep my eyes peeled for you. I really want those tan ones if they are in good shape. Are you changing your entire interior over to black? If you are I may be interested in some tan stuff if your interior is leather.

Correct. The earlier shoulder belts mounted to the underside of the tonneau as shown in the picture. But in 92 the tonneau has cutouts that allow the shoulder belts to come over the top of the rear seat. The belt is mounted to a pillar that is bolted to the hump behind the seat. There is a cover that goes over it for cosmetic reasons.

Re: Seatbelt Question

I would also like to know if I can use shoulder belts from a hard/ttop in my 1992 vert. I'm looking to swap my interior from tan to black, so I need black belts front and rear. I will be selling my tan interior if anyone's interested. It's leather, everything is in near-mint condition besides the driver's seat...I'm not selling it until I find everything I need for the swap though so if anyone's interested in my tan stuff maybe you can help me out. All I need still are black seatbelts front and rear, black door sills, black split back rear seats, black carpet and floor mats, and black bose kick panel speakers.
