I cannot find a thread on removal of the lower control arms, can someone help with some advice please. I have a 87 vert and the bolts are too long when tring to pull them out. I am thinking that they where in stalled wrong, they pull out towards the rocker panel and hit the rocker panel. I assume they should have pulled out towards the middle of the car.
there is still about 1 and a half inches for the bolt to fully come out. Do I have to cut them ??

Mine came out towards the rocker too, there is a hole or small cut out in the rocker they should go into to make room to come out

I don't have a hole, I do have a indent but its on the other side on the frame, that's why I think it was put in backwards. The bolt should have been pulled out towards the frame and the nut on the rocker side. Do you know of a thread with pictures ??, could it be a vert is different ?

You Should Have Plenty Of Room To Pull That Bolt Out.

It's a 1987 convertible, so the rockers are boxed, are all verts boxed ?? but I think the bolt should have been installed from the other side before the rockers where box from ASC ..??? Has anyone had this problem ?? The pictures are passenger side looking from the rear to the front. Thanks

On the ASC verts you'll have to cut bolts or put a small hole in the added rocker support. No big deal either way.

I would rather cut the bolts then drill a hole in the rocker. wouldn't you agree ?. If I cut will I be able to replace and install the bolts from the driveshaft side ?, or will I still have to drill a hole to install them. I guess replacements would need to be grade 8 ?. strength. Thanks

If the bolts are rusty and not reusable, cut em up.
If it was mine, I'd center punch the rocker then use a unibit 2 drill a access hole in the rocker. Either would be fine

Later cars must have had an access hole already drilled, as my car was bone stock when I got it.

What size tire are you running and is that the widest that could be used on a 3rd gen without a mini tub ???
Looks like you very close to the emergency cable, does that not rub when the tire flexes over bumps ???
