New Convertible owner
Just wanted to say hi and tell everyone what a great message board this is. I have learned a lot by reading as many post as I can to try to learn more about my new RS convertible.
It has a 305 TBI engine with 111,000 miles on it and it appears to be all original except the grill, radio, hood, and a set of lowering springs. I paid $4000 for it which may have been a little too much but I really wanted the car.
I have already changed the steering wheel (what was GM thinking there??) to one out of an IROCZ. I have also purchased the original radio and will be installing it shortly.
I plan on painting the car torch red and converting the interior over to black instead of the red that came in the car originally. Right now I like the chrome 18" IROC replica wheels.

Re: New Convertible owner
Congrats, it looks great as it sits! nice stance and the rims match the top. I'd do black headlight buckets. The top looks great. 18" rims will make it ride pretty stiff.
From my experience with TBI 305's...If it runs good, leave it alone. My friend's never ran well after he started doing bolt on modifications. If you get the itch for more power, set aside about $7,000 and do a RamJet 350 crate engine. It's as simple as it gets and will put you near 350hp, EFI, hassle free.. All it needs is 12 volts and a 45PSI fuel pump.
Take care!

Re: New Convertible owner
I have a torch red corvette. when I painted it back red is used scarlet red which is torch red without the little bit of black and blue they add to the base red (scarlet). It is the brightest red possible (orangy-red). At the ZR-1 meet at the corvette factory you could pick my car out of an ocean of red corvettes.
