Car: 1986 Autoform IROC Z
1986 Autoform Convertible

1986 Autoform IROC Z

Very high quality AutoForm Camaro up for grabs. These do not come along very often especially one of this quality. For those that are unaware of the story of these rare cars, I'll explain to the best of my knowledge. GM did not make a convertible Camaro until 1987. Up until that point several third party companies made officially licensed alterations that were available as a dealer option only. The most famous of these companies is ASC and in 1987 it was there alteration that was finally RPO coded and mass produced as the 1987 Camaro Convertible. The AutoForm conversion was one of the several other companies that were available as a factory option. The best I can tell it was $5,500-6,000 option and only the dealer could order one. (ie. you couldn't buy a 86 Camaro, drive it around for a year then decide you wanted to make it a convertible. AutoForm would not accept your request.) The car still maintained its full factory warranty. The AutoForm conversions also has the distinction of being the only 2-seat roadster conversion available. The production numbers are unknown but believed to be around 600 total between Firebirds and Camaros. The serial number on the conversion of this car is AFC6-00541, leading me to believe it is the 541st conversion they did. That is total speculation on my part but makes sense based on the believed production numbers and the time this car was converted.

As for the car itself it is immaculate and finished to a very high standard. It is optioned below:
-35,000 miles
-IROC Z
-LG4 engine
-Leather Interior, appears to be original but I could be wrong.
-All console controls and instrumentation are original and in working order. Radio, Cruise Control, etc.
-Convertible deck lid and trunk work as they should.
-Clean engine compartment and again all hoses and major components appear original and in good working order.
-Aftermarket steering wheel and wheels.

I admittedly am not a ThirdGen junky and would welcome any information anyone has on these cars (I could tell you a lot more about the car in the garage). But, I believe it to be a very rare car and have yet to see one this nice and this original. Email me with any questions bwlutz3@yahoo.com
